Stephen E. Johnson, JD, CPWA®, CFP®
Steve brings a passion for investing and lifelong learning and teaching to his role at Braver Wealth. Steve graduated from the University of Vermont in 1992, and after a brief high school teaching and coaching career, returned to academia. He graduated magna cum laude with his J.D. from the University of Maine, and after passing the Massachusetts Bar Exam spent a year at the law firm Bowditch and Dewey in Worcester, MA. Realizing that it was the financial cases that interested him the most, he made a career change and joined Morgan Stanley Dean Witter as a financial advisor.
Soon after becoming an advisor, Steve made the transition to Charles Schwab in Chestnut Hill, where he spent the next 14 years. He was a Vice President and Private Client Consultant at Schwab, with over $400 million under management – the fifth largest practice nationally. There he was responsible for planning, portfolio design and allocation. He was a frequent presenter at Schwab seminars and has spoken before national audiences about current issues and opportunities in the markets. Steve received the firm’s Chairman’s Club award in multiple years. During his final year with Schwab, Steve managed the Burlington, MA branch.
Steve is a four-time Five-Star Wealth Manager winner and has been a recurrent guest on various radio shows, as well as frequently being tapped for interviews by Boston Magazine, the Boston Globe and USA Today.
Steve lives in Leicester, MA with his wife and their daughter. Playing Division I baseball at UVM taught him many life lessons that he is seeing his daughter echo as she begins to show a (clearly genetic) love of being on a team and playing her heart out. In their free time, the Johnsons enjoy just about any outdoor activity, especially skiing, hiking and golfing. Their free time at home is often centered around gathering extended family at their house for big old-fashioned dinners, and one of their favorite places to escape to for a weekend is Vermont – a highly dog-friendly state that’s also a big favorite with the family dog, Sam.
“Although the market has changed dramatically over the last ten years, hard work and a well-executed game plan enables me to assist our clients achieve their goals by staying on track.”
